Vice President of Design and Engineering

NATURE OF WORK: 

We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead a team of Design Engineers and Permitting Specialists throughout the Great Lakes region. As a Vice President you will be expected to engage with key clients and partners to inform our corporate wide strategy and work closely within your team to achieve these objectives. The Vice President will be responsible to define strategy, develop necessary roadmap, identify and prioritize requirements, and collaborate with development of implementation.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide and approve financial decisions including ordering of materials, expenditures and reporting
  • Responsible for procuring projects, managing and driving revenue within engineering.
  • Develop forecasts and manage resources objectives to ensure team is aligned with targets
  • Responsible for setting and achieving annual sales, revenue, and profitability goals. 
  • Analyze available technology, market needs and existing resources to determine project feasibility.
  • Lead the engineering team, including coaching, allocating resources effectively and reviewing team performance.
  • Coordinate and direct teams to complete project, including documentation, integrations of technical components.
  • Ensure that the product is fully and correctly designed and documented.
  • Manage the execution of initiatives from idea through launch, while setting and managing the right expectations with stakeholders.
  • Make sound decisions despite uncertainty and proactively anticipate and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks).
  • Define, review, and track key metrics associated with product and program performance.
  • Build relationships and partnerships up, down and across different business units and various groups throughout entire organization.  
  • Ensure your team delivers high quality product requirements that capture scope of work that can be delivered on time, and with quality

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or in a related discipline required.
  • Advanced technical degree, or MBA a plus
  • Professional Engineer designation or ability to obtain 
  • 5 years’ experience leading Product Management teams
  • 10 years of experience relevant work experience
  • Strong people manager with ability to challenge and grow a healthy senior product management team 
  • Other related duties as assigned by management
